BIOGRAPHY Brian Hudson is an Atlanta based freelance drummer and
educator. He has been studying and playing music for
over 20 years and has performed hundreds of shows
before tens of thousands of people throughout the
southeastern United States. He has performed with
musicians from some of the top bands in the U.S.
including musicians from The Ohio Players, Collective
Soul (former member), Cindy Wilson Band (of The B-52s),
Tyler Perry’s band, Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean and
others. His influences cover the spectrum of music
ranging from classical to jazz to rock to R&B to Latin.
He attended the University of South Florida in Tampa for two years where he studied jazz performance and drumset and performed in the Symphony Orchestra and several jazz combos. He later transferred and graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He studied with USF Professor David Hardman and Jason Harnell (Maynard Ferguson) and has had private lessons with Dave Weckl, Dom Famularo and Grammy Award winner Mark Walker Oregon/Paquito D'Rivera/ Berklee).
Brian has performed with various pop/rock, country and jazz artists around the Southeast. Most notably is his playing with roots rock band and former Capricorn Recording Artists Memory Dean. Since Hudson joined the band in 2001, Memory Dean has performed hundreds of shows in the southeast in support of their six albums and has shared the stage with national artists such as Sister Hazel, Cowboy Mouth, Shawn Mullins and many others.
Brian has also made a name for himself as one of the top contemporary jazz drummers in Atlanta due to his funk oriented grooves, great meter and solid feel for the pocket. He has performed with such artists as Japanese jazz/fusion artist MADOCA & Company, Just Ahead (featuring Derwin Daniels on sax and Earl Fleming on keys of The Ohio Players), smooth jazz/ R&B keyboardist Brian Clay, Waterlines Trio, jazz guitarist Joe Palese, saxophonist Kelly O’Neal, pianist Darren Ginn and others.
In addition, Brian can be heard on the new album, “Naked,” by pop singer Steve Baskin. The first single, “Catch Me If You Can” is receiving extensive air play in over a dozen states.
Brian currently resides in metro Atlanta where he stays busy doing session work, performing live as a "hired gun/contract
drummer" with various artists, playing with The Edge Worship
Band at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, teaching privately and
conducting drum clinics for elementary school children.
