Paiste Cymbal Endorsement: I am very excited and deeply honored to announce that I have signed on as an artist endorser for Paiste Cymbals. I have been playing Paiste for about 8 years and cannot say enough great things about these cymbals. From their Signature series to Dark Energy series to Traditionals to Masters to Twenty series, they simply make the best sounding cymbals in the world! Please check them out at www.paiste.com.
God has blessed me with another great year musically! There were far too many highlights to list but here are a few.
In 2016, I joined the Sakae Drums family as a regional endorsing artist, became a voting member of the Recording Academy, played super fun shows with Memory Dean at Smith’s Olde Bar, The Georgia Theatre and others, played some great shows with Soul/funk/blues band Soulhound, tracked drums on several projects in the studio, played a fun show with Canadian artist Kenny Munshaw in New Orleans and much more!
Pop/rock singer James Harris has released his debut EP “Seasons” worldwide on iTunes and Spotify. James is a talented singer/songwriter who has over 4,000,000 downloads on Spotify. The EP was recorded at Studio B and produced by Bobby Smith. Check it out on Spotify at James Harris Seasons
Producer, piano, aux instruments: Bobby Smith
Guitars: Shane Cole
Bass: Jordan Stevenson
Drums: Brian Hudson
Sakae Drums: In June, I was fortunate enough to attend the Sakae Drums Day at Summer NAMM in Nashville. The event featured Sakae artists from around the southeast, including Marcus Finnie (Larry Carlton/Kirk Whalum), studio legend Eddie Bayers, Ben Sesar (Brad Paisley), and others. Great group of drummers for sure! I am honored to be a part of the Sakae Drums family!
Memory Dean: In April, Memory Dean played to a sold out crowd at the iconic Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta. We had a great time and the fans were amazing! We have some exciting shows on the horizon including an October 15 homecoming date at The Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia!

Studio: In July, I was fortunate enough to track drums for the upcoming James Harris release. Should be out in September! It is going to be amazing!

Soulhound: Soulhound has been busy playing a unique blend of soul/funk/blues and jam to audiences all across Georgia this year! We were honored to recently share the stage with legendary Canadian rockers The Guess Who at Southern Ground Amphitheater! Soulhound has upcoming shows in Atlanta, Avondale Estates, Milledgeville, Alpharetta and more.
I am honored to announce that I am now a regional endorsing artist for Sakae Drums. Many people may not know that Sakae Drums is a family owned company making handcrafted drums in Japan for over 90 years. They made high quality drums for one of the world’s leading drum companies for many years including the maple and birch customs and recording custom brands (hint). When that drum company went in a different direction in 2009, Sakae Rhythm started marketing their own brand under Sakae Drums.
I have owned a Sakae Trilogy kit for over a year and can honestly say that it is one of the best sounding kits I have ever played. The drums are made of a 3 ply maple/poplar/maple shell made famous by vintage drums. The Trilogy series maintains the nice low end of the vintage drums with a modern touch and sound. I am very excited to play these drums both live and in the studio!
Sakae Drums inspire me to play better and play more musical! You really cannot ask for anything more!
