2017 in Review

2017 in Photos

Musically 2017 was a great year that saw the release of my debut album, Next Level, that peaked at #3 on the Roots Music Report Jazz Chart and #7 on the NACC Jazz Chart.  In addition, it received some outstanding reviews including reviews in 2 different issues of Drumhead Magazine.  I also had the honor to join the Paiste Cymbals family as an artist in 2017. Paiste Cymbals were my first real cymbals and I have loved them ever since.  It is an incredible honor to join a cymbal family that includes legends like Jeff Porcaro, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Jordan, Jim Keltner, Abe Jr. and many more.  2017 also saw a bunch of great live shows including playing with Soulhound, Memory Dean, Next Level, Jess Goggans Band and others and saw the expansion of my home studio where I provided dozens of remote tracks for artists from around the world including from the US, Croatia, Italy, Spain, etc.  I look forward to a great 2018!

The event featured Sakae artists from around the southeast, including Marcus Finnie (Larry Carlton/Kirk Whalum), studio legend Eddie Bayers, Ben Sesar (Brad Paisley), and others. Great group of drummers for sure!  I am honored to be a part of the Sakae Drums family!

Sakae Drums

I am honored to announce that I am now a regional endorsing artist for Sakae Drums.  Many people may not know that Sakae Drums is a family owned company making handcrafted drums in Japan for over 90 years.  They made high quality drums for one of the world’s leading drum companies for many years including the maple and birch customs and recording custom brands (hint).  When that drum company went in a different direction in 2009, Sakae Rhythm started marketing their own brand under Sakae Drums.

I have owned a Sakae Trilogy kit for over a year and can honestly say that it is one of the best sounding kits I have ever played.  The drums are made of a 3 ply maple/poplar/maple shell made famous by vintage drums.  The Trilogy series maintains the nice low end of the vintage drums with a modern touch and sound.  I am very excited to play these drums both live and in the studio!

Sakae Drums inspire me to play better and play more musical!  You really cannot ask for anything more!

Check them out for yourselves at www.sakaedrums.com!
